Harvest Bangers

1

Hooray for Harvest, jump for joy!
Hooray for harvest, each girl and boy!
Hooray for harvest, twist and shout!
Come and let us tell you what it’s all about.

Hooray for Harvest, jump for joy!
Hooray for harvest, each girl and boy!
Hooray for harvest, lend a hand!
We’re digging and we’re weeding to prepare the land.

Hooray for Harvest, jump for joy!
Hooray for harvest, each girl and boy!
Hooray for harvest, turn around
We take a seed and plant it deep within the ground

Hooray for Harvest, jump for joy!
Hooray for harvest, each girl and boy!
Hooray for harvest, touch your toes!
It’s all about the farmer and the food he grows.

Welcome

Cauliflowers fluffy and cabbages green,
strawberries sweeter than any I’ve seen,
beetroot purple and onions white:
all grow steadily day and night.

The apples are ripe, the plums are red,
broad beans are sleeping in a blankety bed.

Blackberries juicy and rhubarb sour,
marrows fattening hour by hour,
gooseberries hairy and lettuces fat,
radishes round and runner beans flat.

The apples are ripe, the plums are red,
broad beans are sleeping in a blankety bed.

Orangey carrots and turnips cream,
reddening tomatoes that used to be green,
brown potatoes in little heaps
down in the darkness where the celery sleeps.

The apples are ripe, the plums are red,
broad beans are sleeping in a blankety bed.

Who put the colours in the rainbow?
Who put the salt into the sea?
Who put the cold into the snowflake?
Who made you and me?

Who put the hump upon the camel?
Who put the neck on the giraffe?
Who put the tail upon the monkey?
Who made hyenas laugh?

Who made whales and snails and quails?
Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
Who made bats and rats and cats?
Who made everything?

Who put the gold into the sunshine?
Who put the sparkle in the stars?
Who put the silver in the moonlight?
Who made Earth and Mars?

Who put the scent into the roses?
Who taught the honey bee to dance?
Who put the tree into the acorn?
It surely can’t be chance!

Who made seas and leaves and trees?
Who made snow and winds that blow?
Who made streams and rivers flow?
God made all of these!

There is a farmer who stands in his fields
and he sees all the work to be done.
He has been watching for many a month
He’s been waiting for this time to come.

There’s a song to sing as the harvest comes in,
to the One who gives sunshine and rain.
Let us all join in with a thank-offering,
for the harvest that’s gathered again.

There was a time when the fields were prepared
and the good soil was carefully ploughed.
Then came the day for the farmer to sow
and the seeds were all scattered around.

There’s a song to sing as the harvest comes in,
to the One who gives sunshine and rain.
Let us all join in with a thank-offering,
for the harvest that’s gathered again.

There was some time for the farmer to wait
as the seeds slowly grew out of sight.
Then came the day when the first shoots appeared,
and the farmer was filled with delight.

There’s a song to sing as the harvest comes in,
to the One who gives sunshine and rain.
Let us all join in with a thank-offering,
for the harvest that’s gathered again.

Now is the time when the crops are full grown,
and the farmer must gather them in.
He’ll need some help ‘cause there’s lots to be done
and it’s hard to know where to begin.

There’s a song to sing as the harvest comes in,
to the One who gives sunshine and rain.
Let us all join in with a thank-offering,
for the harvest that’s gathered again.

There’s a song to sing as the harvest comes in,
to the One who gives sunshine and rain.
Let us all join in with a thank-offering,
for the harvest that’s gathered again.

He’s got the whole harvest in his hands.
He’s got the whole harvest in his hands.
He’s got the whole harvest in his hands.
He’s got the whole world in his hands.

He’s got peas and beans and carrots in his hands.
He’s got peas and beans and carrots in his hands.
He’s got peas and beans and carrots in his hands.
He’s got the whole world in his hands.

He’s got cabbages and sweetcorn, in his hands.
He’s got cabbages and sweetcorn, in his hands.
He’s got cabbages and sweetcorn, in his hands.
He’s got the whole world in his hands.

He’s got lettuce and tomatoes in his hands.
He’s got lettuce and tomatoes in his hands.
He’s got lettuce and tomatoes in his hands.
He’s got the whole world in his hands.

He’s got food for everybody in his hands.
He’s got food for everybody in his hands.
He’s got food for everybody in his hands.
He’s got the whole world in his hands.

During this hymn, you are invited to bring up your gifts for the foodbank at St Richard’s Seacroft.  A plate will be passed in case you would prefer to make a financial donation.  The card machine at the rear of the church can also be used at the end of the service.

We plough the fields and scatter
the good seed on the land,
but it is fed and watered
by God’s almighty hand:
he sends the snow in winter,
the warmth to swell the grain,
the breezes and the sunshine,
and soft refreshing rain:

All good gifts around us
are sent from heav’n above;
then thank the Lord, O thank the Lord,
for all his love.

He only is the maker
of all things near and far;
he paints the wayside flower,
he lights the evening star;
the winds and waves obey him,
by him the birds are fed;
much more to us, his children,
he gives our daily bread:

All good gifts around us
are sent from heav’n above;
then thank the Lord, O thank the Lord,
for all his love.

We thank thee then, O Father,
 for all things bright and good;
the seed-time and the harvest,
our life, our health, our food.
Accept the gifts we offer
for all thy love imparts,
and, what thou most desirest,
our humble, thankful hearts.

All good gifts around us
are sent from heav’n above;
then thank the Lord, O thank the Lord,
for all his love.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.

Cabbages and greens,
broccoli and beans,
cauliflower and roasted potatoes
taste so good to me.
Apricots and plums, ripened in the sun,
oranges and yellow bananas,
good for everyone.

It’s another harvest festival,
when we bring our fruit and vegetables,
’cause we want to share the best of all
the good things that we’ve been given.
It’s another opportunity
to be grateful for the food we eat
with a samba celebration to say
‘thank you’ to God the Father.

Goldеn corn and wheat,
oats and sugar beet,
fluffy rice and tasty spaghetti,
wondеrful to eat.
Coffee, cocoa, tea, growing naturally,
herbal plants and all kinds of spices,
very nice indeed.

It’s another harvest festival,
when we bring our fruit and vegetables,
’cause we want to share the best of all
the good things that we’ve been given.
It’s another opportunity
to be grateful for the food we eat
with a samba celebration to say
‘thank you’ to God the Father.

Thank you for the harvest!
Thank you for your goodness!
For all of the fruit and vegetables,
and the wonderful things that grow.

Thank you for the harvest!
Thank you for your goodness!
For all of the fruit and vegetables,
and the wonderful things that grow.

Cabbages and greens,

You shall go out with joy
and be led forth with peace,
and the mountains and the hills
shall break forth before you.
There’ll be shouts of joy,
and the trees of the field
shall clap, shall clap their hands.

And the trees of the field shall clap their hands,
and the trees of the field shall clap their hands,
and the trees of the field shall clap their hands,
and you’ll go out with joy.
